DUAP PMU and GGGI teams meet to discuss collaboration on sustainable urban mobility and its links to the Port Vila CBD recovery and rebuild.
The Department of Urban Affairs and Planning (DUAP) Project Management Unit met with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) team at the Ministry of Internal Affairs to continue discussions on sustainable urban mobility opportunities for Port Vila.
The meeting explored how GGGI’s work with the Department of Energy can connect with the CBD rebuild, including safer walking, better public transport and cleaner ways to travel. Discussions also covered work on electric vehicle standards.
GGGI works with Vanuatu’s Ministry of Climate Change, with the Department of Energy as the lead government agency for this sustainable urban mobility work. Its broader support includes green growth, clean energy, climate resilience and access to climate finance.
For the CBD rebuild, these discussions provide an opportunity to connect transport initiatives with the city’s planning and infrastructure priorities.
Established in December 2025, the DUAP PMU coordinates and facilitates discussions between government ministries and agencies, development partners and the private sector. These discussions help share updates, connect related work and identify practical ways to move the CBD rebuild forward.
