A vital workshop was recently held to discuss the Zoning Plan for the Etas Subdivision and its broader significance for urban planning across Greater Port Vila. The session brought together stakeholders from multiple initiatives, with a focus on how their work interlinks and how to strengthen coordination moving forward.

Participants included teams from both the Vanuatu Affordable and Resilient Settlements (VARS) program and the Greater Port Vila Urban Resilience Project. The workshop offered a valuable opportunity to align program goals and discuss how best to coordinate upcoming work with the Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Key discussions centered around the current status of the Etas Subdivision Plan, proposals for additional land development in the area, and how this specific subdivision fits into the bigger picture of strategic urban planning and land use for Port Vila.

This type of collaboration is essential for creating well-planned, resilient, and sustainable urban spaces. By looking at both the local and regional implications of land use decisions, the workshop aimed to ensure that future development supports the long-term growth and resilience of Greater Port Vila.
