In a recent strategic meeting, Sanma Provincial Secretary General, Mr. Jonathan Lavare, met with the Acting Principal of the Foreshore Development Unit and two senior officers to discuss key sustainable development priorities for Sanma Province, particularly focusing on the growing needs of Luganville.

During the discussion, Mr. Lavare highlighted that several planned developments across the province would require extensive support from the FDU—especially as many of these initiatives fall within coastal zones and will need to undergo the formal Foreshore Development Permit process.

Acknowledging the importance of proper regulatory oversight, the Acting Principal of the FDU reaffirmed the Unit’s commitment to collaboration. He assured Mr. Lavare that the FDU will actively coordinate with the Sanma Provincial Government’s Compliance Team to strengthen enforcement and monitoring mechanisms.

The shared goal is to ensure that all developments align with the provisions of the Foreshore Development Act, helping to protect coastal ecosystems while supporting responsible growth in the region.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in integrating national regulatory frameworks with local development priorities—ensuring a more resilient and sustainably managed future for Sanma Province.
